Howdy
Lets read this short essay by Roland Barthes and be prepared to talk about the possibility (or impossibility) of true originality in art.
Hope all is well

Class Stuff
Hello All
Quick notes.
Please visit the campus Career Development Center for a mock interview. You will need complete this task by Apr 18 and it shouldn't take long. It would be wise to consider what you may be interviewing for soon so that they can best help you. Some of you are considering teaching, others grad school and the like. Have them taylor your interview to what you are interested in doing. The number is 903 468 3223 to set up your appointment.
Hey guys, many thanks to those of you who have been making the great presentations for the class. Remember to present as though we know very little so that you are thorough and helpful. Also please stayed tuned this week as I want to assign a bit of reading to discuss.
I know its getting busy but hang in there
Hope all is well

Next Week
Hey You all
I really liked where the talk went last time and I wanted to reiterate the things I want you to be prepared to discuss. Please be prepared to talk about you art making "philosophy" or even your lack of one. Why do you make art? what do you want the viewer to see/understand about you and your work? Start thinking about artist statements and lets be prepared to read and discuss them. For those of you who were not present, we are going to have group critiques during these last weeks of class. We will look at your work (digital images or actual pieces or both) as a group and ask questions and make comments about what you are doing. Be prepared to talk about the decisions you've made in you work and the thoughts that drive you.
I think that 3 students a night would be enough for some good feedback so Please respond to this post letting me know which night you'd prefer
Feb 28, Mar 7, March 21, Apr 4, Apr 11, and Apr 18
I'll just take these on a first come first serve basis as you post to this blog.
Remember to have examples of finished work, work in progress and an artist statement.
Thanks
Lee
